Hi,

The Automatic Update default time is 3:00 o'clock at night. Then 99% of all
computers in my network are down. How is this handled? Will there be a check
the minute I start the PC? Does it retry every hour or so?

Groet! Rick

Hello Systeembeheer,

<http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/browse_frm/thread/1f9ef5e80e892829/194ad9b91e8c27b6?#194ad9b91e8c27b6>

I'm sure you'll get more detailed help from the guys who know a lot more
than me about updates, but I hope this is enough to get you on the right
road for nºw.

Good luck

When the system boots or awakes from hibernation/sleep, the updates will
prompt to be installed. The timeout for 'delayed' installations depends
if the system is shut down or put into sleep/hibernation modes.
If the system is shutdown and the updates have already been downloaded
to it, one will be prompted to either Install Upates at shutdown or
Shutdown and do not install updates.
For sleep/hibernation, there will be a prompt to install updates when
the system is woken up.

You can change the installation time for updates if that concerns you,
Rick. Configure the Automatic Updates settings via the icon in Control
Panel. Or, use Group Policy for numerous workstations on a network.
