Automatic Updates Service is missing from services in WindowsXPS2. Can it be
reinstalled? Also, all wuau* files are not on computer, except installation
files in I386 folder for XPSP2. (ie. wuaueng.dl_ , etc.,).
Thanks

Bad form to reply to your own post, I know. However, I finally solved the
problem by executing the following command from "run".....

regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

Maybe this will help someone else looking for a solution.

I have been searching the net for days for an answer to this problem. Had some very complex answers that didn't work. I couldn't believe it when I ran this file and it fixed the problem instantly ( not even a reboot needed ).

Ta very much for the post.

That worked perfect. I had tried so many other things and none of them worked. All I did was run that command and Windows Updates were back working again. Thanks a TON!
