Automatic Update shows no downloads to install after downloading t

I have a serious problem with Windows Update. If I go to the update website,
it gives errors. If I try to download updates with Automatic Update tool, it
shows a list of available downloads but ends up downloading all the downloads
within a few seconds (that is not possible due to my dialup connection) and
then it says that updates are ready to install. When I open to see which
updates are downloaded and ready to install, there are NO updates. Please
advise.

What errors? Please give precise wording of messages and any error numbers.
