Hi

If you run WINVER from Start/Run, does it say "Service Pack 2"
somewhere in that dialog box?

Hi

No "Service Pack 2" text behind that line?

It should come up with this:

Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

Hi

Then I would say that SP2 is not installed completely on your
computer.

I suggest you reinstall SP2 using the full SP2 installer.

If you used Windows Updates/Automatic Updates to install SP2, you
need to get hold of the full SP2 installer:

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center
(standalone "network" version, 266 MB):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a

(disregard the "intended for IT professionals and developers" part,
it can be used on a single computer as well)

If you do not have broadband at home, but you have at work or you have
friends that have it, you can download it there and burn it to a CD.

If you think that the download is to large, you can get the same file
on a CD from Microsoft (a lot of computer magazines currently also
have the CD included).

The Windows XP SP2 CD order point:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a successful SP2 installation, take a look here:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...TNGP15.phx.gbl

Before (re)installing SP2, you should take a look at the
following sites:
