Automatic update tab grayed out

Hello,

My updates work when I use the feature manually. However, I have the
Automatic Update tab set to download them automatically and that entire
tab is "grayed out" not allowing me to change the settings (download and
install, download and notify, notify only, etc.).

Ever heard this one, and if so, how to fix it? I can't always remember
to visit updates on a regular basis.

1. Click Start, select Run and type: Services.msc
Press Enter
Locate the - "Automatic Update"
Make sure the service is not disabled and started.
if Automatic Update Service is missing from the services.msc list.
Register the file wuaueng.dll:
Click Start, select Run
Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
Press OK.

2. if that fails:
Windows Update Greyed Out - Restore (Line 179)
