It is possible I am remembering incorrectly, but I thought that until very
recently, if I set automatic update to notify me about available updates and
it did so, then I could click on the icon and see what the updates are (and
how big they are), then choose if and when I wanted to download them. Now,
if I click on the icon it starts downloading without telling me anything
other than the percent that has been downloaded. What is worse, it gives no
option any more to pause the download (which is essential if I have work to
do because windows update hogs most of my limited bandwidth.)
Am I missing anything? Is my only reasonable to turn off auto updates
completely and try to remember to check windows update periodically? That
seems like a step or three backwards.
Thanks for any insight,
Dave
