Automatic Updated and VMware issue

Hello,

My pc has the "Automatic updates" service configured to automatically
download updates when I connect to the Internet (I've a 56k modem
connection).
When I installed vmware 5.0, the two connections configured (vmnet1 and
vmnet8) makes Automatic Updates service believe that I'm connected to the
internet, so it tries to download updates, and reports a couple of errors.
If I disable vmnet adapters, Automatic Updates works normally (it dowloads
updates only when i'm connected with my modem).

Is there a way to resolve this?
