Recently, Automatic Updates has caused 100% CPU utilization. When willther
be a fix for this? This is clearly already known throughout other boards and
even here.

Hi,
got the same problem sometime ago on one of my clients machines.
The solution for was very simple: just update the Windows-Update-Software
to the actual level.

I think it's got something todo with the windows-genuine-advantage
functionality...

CU,
Ralf

is it not included in the high to critical updates?.

I experienced the same problem just last night on a PC. and worse, took
almost 8 hours to complete!

Hello I'm Having this same problem too, Windows Update is causing 100% of CPU
usage. if I disable automatic updates it returns to normal but if I use the
Windows Update site it gets the same problem, not even scheduling to download
updates on early hours each week helps.

I even formatted my disk thinking that it was a virus but it wasn't any
virus since the problems is still there even in a clean installation, luckily
my Windows XP Pro CD includes the SP2 so at least I'm not much patches down.

Can you help me please?

Thanks in advance

Hi Folks,

i got the same problem. 100% CPU utilisation from svchost at using MS
Update. It doesnt make a different at manual or automatic Update.

My XP got the latest Updates till today. At each Update it takes up to 8
Minutes only for checking for new Updates.
