Why is the function in automatic updates do not notify me again about these
updates not working?

It is very annoying that if you choose do not notify me again that the
update you have chosen to be ignord keeps popping up over and over again,
one or two times I could understand because the user might have accidently
made a wrong choice.

Is there a fix for this bug?

Any help is appreciated.

Best regards,

Windows version? Which update(s)? Why did you post a Beta ID?

Windows Version Xp Professional oem Sp2 (currently no Betas installed),
update Definition Update 1.14.1508.5 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597)
Beta ID was in my signature removed it now It happens however with every
random update that I want to be ignored.

Best Regards,

If you choose to hide a Defender definitions update, doing so does not hide
the next one. The same behavior occurs with Outlook Junk Mail Filter
updates.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender Beta2
support and comments. See

That a new update appears if one is there seems logical and practical to
me, however it does this with every old and to be ignored update : I click
do not notify me again and yes afer a few minutes the anoying announcement
pops up again, is there a workaround for this anoying bug which is windows
update related?

Thank for any help.

Best regards,

1. Why you'd be running Defender and not want to keep its definitions
up-to-date is beyond me.

2. Please post about this to one of the Defender-specific newsgroups. I
don't think it is WU/AU-related.

I have tested it and did not like it the way it was so I disabled it to
start up , keeping it disabled on the system does not concern me at all I
have 1.3 terrabytes of room to fill who knows it might eventually come in
handy.

I am also encountering this same problem on a recently installed new machine
which runs fine too except for the anoying notification bug and on whatever
windows update it happens not just for a defender defenition update.

After a restart the notification does not pop up anymore, but since I leave
the machines on for as long as possible this is really irritating me.

But with all do respect PA Bear your question which I answered seems quite
of topic and not really helpfull, it might be nice if you can help me to get
rid of this annoying windows update bug?

So hopefully do you have any suggestions perhaps?

If you don't want to run/use Defender, uninstall it. That will solve one
update problem.

Which other updates (you've only mentioned Defender updates so far)? How is
Automatic Updates configured on each machine?

Hi PA Bear,

it does make no difference this behavior occurs on every machine and is not
Defender related, I have automatic updates configured as notify me but do
not install because I want to have control over whatever proces is running
or has to be run.

Defender is Beta and however I am not charmed of it once in a while as a
beta tester I test this or another MS Beta program if I feel like it,
however I do not use it at the moment or any other Beta Software.

It is just the simple bug when you say do not remind me and it keeps
reminding you untill a reboot. I think most people won't even notice if they
do not use their computer for hours and hours like this crazy guy

Further on everything runs smooth as a baby have problems like any other
user but usually solve them quite rapidly.

I could turn of automatic updates notification but that is not really
solving the problem but just ignoring it.

Is there no registry edit possible to tell that stupid update reminder that
it has to listen to me and respect my wishes
Meaning getting the bug out and telling update reminder that ignore it
really means ignore it?

Thanks for your time,

Best regards,

Michel Denie

I think many people have the same little problem

Again, which other updates behave this way? All of them or...?

Does the behavior persist if you uninstall Windows Defender?
