Automatic Updates Failed To Install

The following Automatic Updates have failed to install:

KB917734
KB929338
KB90830
Office XP Service Pack 3

I tried calling Microsoft Support but conveniently Windows Update support is
no longer free. Kudos!

Can anyone help with this? Why does this happen with Automatic Update on
certain systems? I know these can probably be installed manually one by one,
but why? What's the fix to make automatic updates actually work like they
are supposed to?
