automatic updates failed

I have auto update on and this morning it attempted to update security for
office and other compents, kept failling. I rebooted 3 times, tried again,
same problem.

I tried office repair, also gave errors (used detect and repair errors in
office installation... option)

Have you ever used Windows Live OneCare - http://safety.live.com ?
If so and the Clean Up Center was used to "cleanup" the registry then
suggest you restore a backup of the registry before attempting to
install the updates again.
