Automatic updates sevice is missing!!!

Hi ....

I've just tryed to do a windows update so that I can get the monitor driver
that i need....
....but while trying to update, the windows update page is telling me that
the Automatic update service is not enabled - I just tryed to re-enable it
again in services, but its completely missing from the list!!!!...

....anyone got any ideas??

Right click on My Computer and go to Properties. Is there an Automatic
Update tab there?

Thanks for the reply Alias...but I've done this!!!!! .....the service itself
is still missing from the list and am unable to update anything! untill this
service is manually enabled again...... but I just can't find it because its
just not listed in Windows XP services anymore, where it should be!
....bizarre :-(

*The Automatic Update tab is there and enabled.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD DRIVERS FROM MS UPDATE!

Always get drivers from the manufacturers site.

....yeah ..thankz I did that in the end, cos the problem i spoke of earlier,
still exists - might have to reinstall windows, and have done with it =)
