Automatic Updates on Win 2000 SP4

Hi there
Problem in Microsoft Update: Back in 8/2006 the Update Rollup 1 for Windows
2000 Service Pack 4 was cancelled for some unknown reason, 3 days later it
was downloaded again, failing, according to my "Review your Update History"
log. I downloaded the exe file and installed it, no errors, restart OK, and
it appears in "Add & Remove Programs". "Review your Update History" does not
seem to reflect this change.
In addition I have 28 high priority updates each of 0 kb, tagged "this
update has already been downloaded to your computer, but if you select it, it
will finish installing (recommended)"
Trying to install these gives me a dialog box "Updates were unable to be
successfully installed" with all the updates appearing below in a listbox.
Automatic updates seem not to work, and if they do, installations are failing.
Running MSBA 2.01, gives a "citical scanning problems found: 1" followed by
a 192.168.1.2 message "Unexpected error, The Operating system returned error
code 1222"
This might be an access problem, I ran dcomcnfg and allowed security
permissions to Administrator, but no luck. Might there be a problem in my IE
security settings, or advanced options?

Hi Rob,
I selected "Your computer is set to receive security & critical updates
automatically" and now updates are coming in and working. However this causes
rebooting without prompting, so I prefer the default of "download updates for
me, but let me choose when to install them"
The problem is from Microsoft Update Home, I "Review and Install Updates" of
the "Express Results" all of a "Download size (total): 0 KB". Installing
these causes a failed download condition, and the attached portion of the
(1.5MB) log should illustrate that.
And the 1222 in MBSA is still current, and does not seem to be well
documented.
Not such a big drama now...
