Ever since I installed Service Pack 2 on my computer, I have noticed that
the automatic updates are not working. I can go manually to the update site
and see the updates there. I had no problem before I installed sp 2.

Hi

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...TNGP14.phx.gbl

Also, if you have Windows XP SP2 installed, check that the
WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:

If nothing of the above worked, try the steps in this post:

Here are some more steps you can try if the above was of no help:

"Software update incomplete" error message when you visit the
Windows Update Web site

You cannot install some updates or programs

Windows Update Is Not Installed

What setting or exe files do I need to have setup with my norton firewall to
make sure that the firewall is the reason that I am not able to get updates.
I am not sure if my firewall is blocking? What program files run with
automatic updates?

Hi

You need to open up for svchost.exe, more here on how to configure
Norton Firewall to let Windows Updates through:
