I do NOT want sp2. I installed and uninstalled it after alot of problems.
But i also had to turn off my AUTOMATIC UPDATES because everytime i logged
on it popped up on the task bar that i have a downloaded high priorty update
to install. This was the SP2 again, windows have now downloaded it and are
waiting for me to install but i dont want to.....
SO... Is there a way i can set my automatic updates back on without
including the sp2 alert??
THANKS

For a while - yes.
Sooner or later you will have to install it to continue receiving current
updates.

But yes - there is a way you can setup your PC so Automatic Updates ignores
SP2.

Hi;

First, set AU to "Notify me but don't automatically ....." via the Control
Panel applet. Then the next time you see SP2 offered via AU, uncheck the
item; then at the next prompt select the "don't show me this again"

There is a SP2 blocker. You can download it on the microsoft site.

Hi

To avoid that Windows Updates/Automatic Updates tries to install
SP2 at all (up to 12. April 2005):

Toolkit to Temporarily Block Delivery of Windows XP SP2 to a PC
Through Automatic Updates and Windows Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Run the XPSP2BlockerTools.exe in the link above. It will extract
several files to the folder you specify.

Then run XPSP2Blocker.exe to activate the blockage (it will create
the registry value described in the link above).

This will not block you from installing SP2 from e.g. the SP2 CD
later on...
