I've made endless attempts following the guides from MS updates website to
enable my automatic updates and its just not happening. I scanned my pc for
virus and there seem to be no problem in that regard. I dont even know what
disabled my automatic updates in the first place because I'm the only one
using this pc.

Popup blocker is enabled yet there's also this website always popping up
when I go on the net - recommending that I use their antivirus program
Does anybody know what's happening here?

Sounds like you may be infested with spyware/adware/malware.

Also - what Operating System are you using? Service pack level of said
operating system? What Antivirus software? What browser (version as well)?

Hi I am having same problems too. Could you also help me resolve this
problem?
I am using XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3 and I have the IE.
I have McAfee. I installed Lavasoft Adware to remove spyware. I run McAfee
but still no infected virsus or infected spware/adware. Thanks.

There's a very strong possibility that you have a Vundo infection, which is
usually accompanied by ZLOB and/or SDBot infections, all of which are
protected by a rootkit.

Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Since no single AV product can find every infection, the fact that McAfee
gives your system a clean bill of health cannot mean that your system is not
infected. In fact, it is impossible to show that any system is malware
free. You should try several of the free online anti-virus programs.

I just installed "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" Software from Download.com
and it solved my problem. It caught 100+ infected with Trojan Vundo and many
more in mostly registry files. After I scanned and removed those files, I can
use Automatic Updates again and my computer is working properly too. Those
who have same problems with me should try it. Good Luck!
