The Automatic windows update doesn't work?

Hi
My computer's automatic update is On. But it diesn't work and when I want to
update manualy , It's loading to much and never finish.
By the way, My windows is WEindows XP Taplet Pc Edition (Sp2)

I will be thanksful for your reply

mine is on as well says my product key used to install microsoft eindows may
be invalid
