Automatic Windows Update repeating update

I recently formatted my computer and reinstalled windows xp pro with sp2
slipstreamed. I installed all the critical updates, but one update keeps on
showing up in my automatic update: my broadcom modem driver. Even if I try to
install it, 1 min after the installation completes, the update would show up
again. I tried restarting, removing the driver in device manager, etc, and it
just keeps on coming back in windows update. I never had this problem before
in my previous reinstall of windows. Anyone know why and how to solve it?

Generally you are better off getting windows Updates directly from the
hardware manufacturer and not Windows Update.
You can use Windows Update as a guide.
When a driver is available through Windows Update, instead go to the
hardware manufacturer for the driver.

Or you can disable driver notification in Windows Update:
Right click My Computer
Click Properties.
Click Hardware tab.
Under Drivers, click Windows Update.
Make selection as desired.
