According to that link (which may be out of date), the value ffffffdf in
that regkey means AutoPlay is disabled for everything except CD-ROM drives.
Can you try changing this manually (double-click the value) to, say,
ffffffd3? That should re-enable AutoPlay for "removable" and "fixed" drives.
Reboot, and try again.
If that does not work:
- Verify your AutoPlay settings under Control Panel -> AutoPlay.
- Try opening services.msc (Start->Run... open services.msc) and skim down
the list to find "Shell Hardware Detection" or "ShellHwDetection" (can't
recall.) This service needs to be enabled ("Automatic") for AutoPlay to work.
- Try opening gpedit.msc and digging around to find AutoPlay settings -
check under Windows Components -> AutoPlay Policies. Perhaps more information
may be gleaned there, I'm not sure (sorry this is vague.)
