How do I solve this dilema? I've re-registered the cryptography dlls and
windows update dlls and still get this break.

Which AV is installed and is there a 3rd party firewall being utilized ?

Those are the last lines in the .log ? Try accessing Microsoft Update
and then click the Change settings link in the left frame.
Opt out of MU in the right frame and then go to Windows Update, instead.
If the updates fail to download, then post the *last* 30 lines or so
into your reply.

There are no error messages present. I repeat

Interesting. I checked the 2 cabs files from the links in the log and
all they contained were .txt files.

That is supposed to mean that there is so much traffic that the system's
request to d/l from WU has been placed in a queue.
Can you manually install updates on the systems, wanz ?
If so, then I suspect the McAfee firewall is related to the issue.

Even with McAfee turned off, the behavior is the same, the break happens in
the same place. Is there a reg setting in the cryptography section that
could have gotten whacked? I do recall attempting to disable wgatray.exe;
one of the steps told me to delete a key from the registry.
