AVG Free 8 and Vista possible conflicts?

Today I downloaded the new free AVG. I have this and Spyware blaster
and Super antispyware installed. I ran a scan with te AVG and it
found Trojan's, adware, etc, or so it seemed. When the summary came
up at the end a result of 0 (as in nothing found) came up in each
categry, with about 214 in the warnings category, potential threats.

Did the AVG somehow mistake the protection files for the


The software on both mine and my dad's laptops is pretty identical,
and the same result showed up on both.


I wasn't sure what to do at the end. I haven't changed any settings
and as I understand it all the threats were removed. At any rate I
ran the scan again and nothing was found.

The supposed adware etc often is listed under 'File' in AVG as HKLM
\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibl... if that
helps anyone identify what's happening any better. I just considered
then that maybe having run 7.5 with these Vista laptops might be why
these got through. From what I read compatibility with Vista
machines
seem to vary?

It would appear that AVG 8.0 is not compatible with the immunization
features of SpywareBlaster or Spybot.

AVG's answer to the problem is to uninstall both of them. leaving AVG
running as your anti-spyware solution..

I have Spybot (free) installed here with TeaTimer running.

Yea, AVG 8.0 has an issue in detecting false positives with Spybot S&D
and Spywareblaster. It is reading the reg entries those progs use for
pre-emptive blocking as spyware when it isn't. AVG web forums will
have more detailed info on it.
