AVG update and user status

My AVG updater works only when I log on as Administrator. Regular users
can't download any updates either automatically or manually. It gives an
error msg "The request timed out and could not be completed. The update
server connection was interrupted." When I change the status of a user to
admin, it works. So do I have to give all users admin rights? The AVG forum
did not have anything on this and I was wondering if you have any
documentation on this issue.

ftp://ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/70/update/

Sort files by date (most-recent at top, with folders above/preceeding
files).

I use FlashFXP; highlight, en masse, the desired files (see above), add
to queue, then download to temp (or, if prefered, something slightly
longer-term) directory/folder, after which right-click on tray-icon,
scroll to 'Check for Updates', navigate to dir/folder, and so on.

Download the Setup EXE again to a TEMP directory. Uninstall AVG. Reboot
your computer. Upon restart right click on the AVG EXE and "run as
administrator". That should fix it.

They had a later version which I downloaded and did as you said but still
doesn't update unless I log on as admin or change the user from standard to
admin. Maybe I'll get another parental control. I don't want to get rid of
AVG as it's far better than Mcafee or Norton even though it's free. There
must be a solution because apparently it works in admin mode so there isn't
anything wrong with the download or the install or the network. It's just
something simple that needs to be tweaked. That's my gut feeling.
