The FREE version of Avira has a nag screen that pops up almost
full screen when the auto-updater runs. Anyone know the three
ways to disable it?

Best way to do it is to disable avnotify.exe from running in Security
Policy, if you have Vista Business/Ultimate (and Enterprise, in which case
you will not be installing your own AV software).

Look at the differnce in the instructions on this page, for Vista Home, and
for XP Pro/Vista Business & Ultimate.

That's where I disabled mine - it's still a SECURITY setting, even if it's
accessed a different way...

So far found two of the three.

1. As in the tip by elitekiller by removing Execute and Read
Status from Avnotify.exe which also effect some notifications
when malware is found.

2. Came up with using Firewall to Block Avnotify.exe and
using that now.

There are supposed to be 3 at least.... anyone else have an
idea?

Import this - it works on home you just have to do it manually. Save
this to a .reg file and import it. This creates a software restriction
policy for the path.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\safer\codeidenti
fiers\0\Paths\{91393030-B869-4139-A95C-3C73F0A46A12}]
"ItemData"="C:\\Program Files\\Avira\\AntiVir PersonalEdition
Classic\\avnotify.exe"
