How to avoid repeated downloading?

Is there a way to save windows updates away such that I can use these updates
later? For example, apply the same patches to other computers (coslty and
slow to re-download the same patches) or when I need to reload the disc, I
don't need to start from the original CD which is 3 years old. Any
suggestions? I would prefer Microsoft sites rather than external sites due
to security reasons. Thanks.

The installed updates can not be saved for reuse.
If there are any Service Packs, order the CD if available or download and
burn the Network Installation to CD.
For the other updates, download from the Windows Update Catalog and burn to
CD, #1 on this link:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/wufix.htm
