Avoiding Windows Live 'sign-in' window

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and WLM

I only downloaded WLM but am also signed up to Win. Live but I do not intend
to use the latter. When I attempt open WLM the Win. Live 'sign-in' window
appears and I want to prevent that happening. I just want to open WLM
directly. How can I achieve that?

For some reason that problem has gone away and am no longer asked to sign-in
to Win. Live and hopefully it will stay that way - just as it was.

You are using a very old 2009 build of WLM(14.0.8089.726)
To ensure you stay sign-ed off of Live
- WLM Menu/Tools/Options/Connections/<Stop Signing In>
- if greyed-out sign in is disable, if not greyed-out, click it

Fyi...Consider upgrading to the latest 2009 build released in May
2010....you may eventually have to upgrade to retain functionality,
especially if you use WLMsgr.

Thanks for that Winston. Very helpful. If I upgrade to WLM 2010 will it
just confine itself to the latter as I merely downloaded WLM 2009 and that
is all I want. My connection to Win. Live is purely exploratory.

You must mean 2011..since there is no 2010.

The installer will upgrade all applications currently installed and also
pre-check(opt-you-in) any that are not...thus ensure you run the 2011
installer in the custom mode by selecting 'Choose the programs you want to
install' and deselect any that you do not want.

Note: 2011 uses a Ribbon Menu and Options Menu instead of the traditional
file menu used by 2009.

Thanks a lot winston. You are certainly helping me to understand this a little more than I did and I find it very interesting. I use the computer a lot, but not extensively, to say the least. WLM 2009, on its own, does me fine but should I venture into 2011 I will know where to tread, thanks to you.

particular about the version it applies to unless it's applicable to both
(or the written content specifies the difference).
