AVStream seems to be an new stream architecture on XPDDK.
Is it also supported on Windows 9x/2000??
or does it depend on DirectX version?

Is AVStream suitable to all A/V devices such as PC camera, DTV receiver?

Best Regards

From the 3790 DDK.

AVStream drivers build on Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Server 2003, or any platform Windows 98 Gold or later that has DirectX® 8.0 or later installed.

You can use it for PC Camera, not sure about DTV.

For a DTV receiver, you might want to look at BDA - Broadcast Device
Architecture. It's a thin layer on top of AVStream that adds some useful
additional functionality in a network stream environment.
