My OS is vista home premium , a Dell laptop Inspiron 1420, 32 bit , 2GB Ram,
120GB Hard Drive, Dual Layer 8X DVD Burner. I'd like to know if I can " turn
the clock back ", putting my laptop back to the day I bought it. I have
already downloaded whatever files I want to keep on some cds. If it's
possible to do, I need someone to show me step by step procedures. Yes, I
have the disks that came with the laptop. My laptop is only 4 months old,
but it's running like an old man , and I suspect that's because whoever set
it up had put a lot of "junks" in before I bought it. Trouble is , I can't
tell which is which, so I don't dare to uninstall them. Anyone with the
patience to lead me along ?

Sadly, a restore to factory default will also restore crapware bundled by
the OEM. You need to do a clean install of Vista (with an installation disk)
to avoid that. The second best thing to do, is uninstalling OEM software
after the reinstall.

Bob, I went to the site and copy down the whole page of instructions. I got
stuck on step 10 which is :
Type the following lines, press Enter after each line : -
Path=D:/WINDOWS;D:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32
D:
CD TOOLS
PCRESTORE
I got stuck in CD TOOLS. windows said " The system cannot find the path
specified "
Then just for the hell of it, I typed in the last line which was PCRESTORE
( note, no spacing between the two words ). The windows said " `PC` is not
recognized as an internal or external command , operable program or batch
file.
I followed the step-by-step to the letter. Now what ?
