Back entire contacts in WLM8.0

I seem to have a problem with WLM8.0. When adding new people I see them
mostly offline, even though they ar online at that moment. When switching to
Windows Messenger I noticed I don't have that problem.

I guess that my WLM8.0 is damaged and I want to uninstall and re-install
latest WLM8.0.

My concern is that while using the "save contacts" option it doesn't save
the contact in the groups as I have them now and also not the names I edited
and insert for each contact i my list. It's very important for me. Is there a
way to do a complete backup?

Thanks in advance.

Windows Live Messenger has a feature that now allows people to sign in as
"appear offline;" however, they can still receive and send messages. If
they're really serious about being shown as offline, they have the option of
answering your ping or not. That way, you can't tell whether they're there
or not.

I try to mark myself busy most of the time when I don't want to be
disturbed, so have the option to answer or not when someone pings me.

Are you saying Windows Messenger will show me as online when I've marked
"appear offline?" Gotta check that out!

Greetings,

This is actually a server problem. To correct it, just shut down Messenger if it's running,
then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...lmpolicies.reg

Now start Messenger again and sign in, within 40-60 seconds your new contact should appear
online (if they're really online).

Dear Nancy,

This is not the problem I have.
Please read again the situation I described. I can see ppl online when using
Windows Messenger and also when connecting to my acount from a 2nd computer
at home.

Maybe Jonathan's solution will solve my problem. I'll try it out as soon as
his site is back online.

Itai.

Hi,

Yeah. Actually the site was up, it's the DNS that was down. I've taken measures to add a
backup to it and it should be accessible again.
