Back UP Recovery My Data

I am trying to recover my Data that I backed up before I Upgraded my Computer
from Windows XP To Windows Vista Home Premium. I Backed up my files to a Que
External HD and now when I try to run my recover my back up All I see is a
encrypted file blocking 20 Gigs of data. If I Click the properties on the
file it says ( opens with Windows Shell Common Dll ) I don't know what this
is or means? I was under the impression that Windows XP and Vista worked
together.

I need to get into this encryped data and need advise.

You might want to ask this in the security newsgroup.
I know nothing about encryption, but I have seen that the same program is
required to unencrypt.

Hi Dean--

When you backed to the Que External HD, did you use their backup software or
some other program? I know many external HDs come with their own backup
software, not always particularly high quality but you can choose to use
other prorams to backup althought not always every tool on an external HD
(like Acronis for example).

Do the methods to recover of that particular backup program you used not
work?
