And her I was thinking I was the only one that spoke to my computer!
But seriously, what you need to do is this:
- Turn off the scheduled Disk Defrag, or change it's running time to
one that is more fitting to you
- Wait for the Indexing Service to run it's course. I lot of this so
called "disk thrashing" that people complain about is a result of the
indexer doing its work. Give it time. It will settle down.
- Get another hard disk for your computer, and use it for all you
data.
- Increase the memory on your computer. Vista loves memory, and
anything less than 2GB is going to give you a headache. My own
computer has 4GB at the moment, with plans of adding another 4 towards
the end of the month.
- Stop talking to your computer - you'll save on shrink bills in the
long run!
