Depending on your system configuration, there could be a number of reasons
for hard drive activity. You have already eliminated some of these reasons.
Others could be background scanning by Defender and/or your anti-virus (you
DO have one, don't you? If not, then this activity could be caused by malware
on your system) - you need to check the settings for these. Another
possibility could be caused by the amount of RAM in your system - less RAM
means more use of the Page File and hence more disk access.
