Background task server

Every once and awhile, a dialog box comes up and says, "The background task
server has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the
inconvenience (yeah, right)." I went around poking and prodding the 'net and
found that this background task server was associated with VCOM's Fix-It
Utilities 6. I also found from PC World Forums that the Windows Update
KB890047 might be conflicting with it. Some people have had this error, which
has no effect whatsoever after it's been closed, but mine appears quite
randomly. OS is XP Media Center. It's not coming up right now, so I can't
find any error codes. Sorry.

Please help it's becoming a pestilence.

I have been sending the error reports, but there have been no Windows
Update(s) to fix it.

I'm getting same annoying message and have VCOM Fix-it 6 installed...
I'm turning off "automatic updates" switching to "manual updates" to see if
this remedies the problem..
