Backing off...

I upgraded my [nearly] 5 yr old PC from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate a few
months ago. I like Vista but the Creative Soundblaster Audigy driver for
Vista doesn't enable recording except through the microphone. I do a lot
of audio capture and need the better quality of the direct stereo capture.

So, I'd like to go back to XP, but without losing anything other than the
Vista OS stuff.

Is this possible and, if so, is there a place where I can find some
step-by-step instructions for doing it?

Thanks in advance.

Howard

Thanks Charlie. I thought that I had looked all over the MSKB but I guess
my search skills still need some honing...

I guess I've been too neat. I don't have the windows.old directory --
hidden or otherwise. I guess that I was too quick to neaten things up after
I upgraded.

Thanks anyway,

Howard

Well, it looks like I might have been a little too neat. After the upgrade
worked and I was [at the time] satisfied with it, I deleted the windows.old
directory.

Since I still have my XP Pro CD, is there anyway to fool my system into
letting me "upgrade" with it?

Sorry, but no. XP will realize there's a more recent version installed, and
leave you with the alternative to reinstall XP (and subsequently your other
software).
