from scratch,so please help me backing up the updates on a CD so that i can

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

How to Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323166

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want,
Click the “Go To Download Basket” link. Type in or browse to the location where you
want the updates saved to and then Click the “Download Now” button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Check your history, locate the updates you have already done and download them again
(you can print out a list)
Keep in mind that some may have been superceded by others.

If you have to reinstall, prior to applying the updates - run WU and see what is
required and then check your list.

If you need the SP2 update (if your system didn't come with that installed and you
updated through Automatic updates)
SP2 CD can be ordered online.

If that is the case you will need to slipstream your WinXP CD with the SP2 patch

No I haven't got an invite to "Windows Live Mail" so cannot answer your questions.
Looks interesting though.

Well, had other problem which i posted in "Windows XP networking and web" but
didnt get any favourable answer so posting it to you here
I wanted to know how to allow 'limited user' on a Windows XP SP2 PRO to
enable and disable a LAN connection, because when a limited user logs on he
is not able to enable or disable the LAN connection in "network connection"
as its greyed out.I have disabled File and printer sharing so the question of
grouping is out.I cant add user to any groups 'coz i havent enabled "file
and printer sharing" so when i try to add users to any groups i get "service
not started",so any other way out.
Thanx
