backup errors

I can not get backup to work. I have been backing up on a regular basis
using vista built in back up (home premium) now it will not work?! I am
backing up to an external hard drive.
It starts to back up then about 15 minutes in i get this error:

i never had a problem before. any advice would be helpful.

Did you checked out ACL in that external drive?
Maybe after some installation, Vista make some changes in them.
Did you tried running backup in Full Administrator rights?
If yes, try turning off UAC and try again make backup and see what happens.
Is drive where you'll store backup is empty?
If it is empty try to reformat it... i've had some problems with backup also
and
after formating partition that was only for backup purposes my problem
resolved.
Maybe your also will.

thanks...could you be a little more specific:
what is ACL?
what is UAC?
i am the administrator, but is there some other setting for the FULL
administrator?

If you deal little with computers, it's unlikely that you would have made
any special security settings that were different from the default.
Something may be damaged from a download or attempt at an update.

Time to wipe the drive and reinstall Vista.
