backup files

Hi . just a comment
I've read a lot about files backup
from post today and other days
System files Programm files and other files, all are backed up
by the sound of it. or ?
When I go for File back up, on my home basic 32 bit
it says, System files and Programm files will be skipped.
I'll look around some more, perhaps I cheked or unchecked something

No. It depends entirely upon what *you* tell your backup program to
do. Nothing is automatic. If you do nothing, you get no backup at all.

Yes very clearly laid out. I bookmarked it as well.

I will use it to remind myself as I've just had to do a clean install and
hadnt backed up recently. This gave all concerned a great deal of pleasure
as I've always nagged at them to back up. Luckily I managed to get
everything off in one piece even had to resort to photographing a dos
screen.lol!

I remember a "few" years ago when I went back to college, we always saved to
file and then to floppy disk for everything. Of course documents were much
smaller in those day. But it was drummed into us. I think you are right we
tend to think of the modern pc as in fallable.

Everyone doing anything critical or creative that might be hard to
duplicate should ALWAYS get into the habit of automatically backing up
as they work. Many higher end applications are preset to do this for
you automatically every five to ten minutes. As you said, you get into
the habit and it just becomes part of your work flow.

For example using Sony's Vegas (video editor) in the course of a half
hour or so I might make a 100 changes to a whole host of things that
would be virtually impossible to repeat from memory in exactly the
same way and order. With so many variables at play it makes sense to
constantly save your work as you do it on top of the any automatic
backup. Simple tip, the more complex the task you're doing the more
often you should be saving it.
