Is there any software (3rd party) that can store my system files on external

it should restore my system without installing windows..

also can this s/w transfer saved system file on new hdd without installing

You don't want a backup, you want a clone. Certain "image" backups will
work, but you've got to run some software to reinstall from the image.

The cheapest way to clone a drive is to use the manufacturer's cloning
software that's used when installing a new drive. Look on the disk-drive's
manufacturer's web site.

This is a bad piece of information.
Alias and Meinolf are right : Acronis is the way to go.
It lets you make an image of your hard disk(s) and allow for a restore via a
boot-CD.

If you have a Maxtor or Seagate hard drive within your system, you can use
the free MaxBlast 5 or DiscWizard software, which are both free versions of
Acronis TrueImage (Home?).

MaxBlast 5

DiscWizard

I tried Ghost 12 as well as Acronis 10.
Finally chose Ghost because it can be
started from the Hard disk drive - and,
as an additonal service, could analyse
the disks for viruses, or check the hard
drives..

Otherwise very similar.
