You use an Exchange Aware backup utility to back up the Active cluster
and the replication service will take care of removing the logs off the
passive. And if the backup software supports it, you can optionally
back up the Passive Node instead and have it automatically switch to
backing up the Active Node if the Passive Fails. The latter option
allows you to typically not have to worry about online maintenance
conflicts although if your Passive Fails, you'd then have conflicts if
you still didn't plan accordingly.
