Hi, I sent this message earlier this morning, but it doesn't seem to be
showing up, so I'm reposting. Sorry if this gets posted twice.
Anyway, I'm running SBS 2003 with Exchange. I run a tape robot with Backup
Exec 12.5, but it takes like 20 hours to run a backup. Plus I had a problem
for a while, where my SBS licenses were being reset to 5 each night. Through
advice here, I figured out which files to exclude from the backup, as well as
moved the backup exec install to a different partition to recapture disk
space, and all is/was well.. Until...
I decided to start doing some backups online for a redundancy solution. I"m
backing up regular files, and that seems to be working fine, but I wanted to
backup my Exchange Data online as well. So I created a scheduled task job to
backup the Exchange data, and another one to copy that backup to the online
storage. When I enabled these to start running this past weekend, my server
started resetting my licenses to 5 again. It did that for 2 days, and I
turned off both of these and that problem did not occur today. This was the
method that the guy I'm working with on my online backups suggested, but I
guess it won't work this way.
I thought it weird, because I'm only backing up the Exchange data and not
the license files, but somehow it is clobbering me.
Does anyone do anything like this, and have any experience or advice to
share on how to get this working properly?
Thanks,
Mike
