Hello,
A friend of mine has a Dell poweredge 1900 running Win 2k3 server.
I need to make a full backup that I can restore onto a new raid 1 array
with larger drives and partitions.
Somebody suggested Acronis Disk Director, but the version that supports
this server OS is $600.00!

Any suggestions for the best software to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Storagecraft shadow protect server would be a good investment but if all you
need to do is offline iimage backup and restore standard disk partitions the
desktop edition should work fine.

You can use the plain version as long as you operate from the Recovery CD
rather than from within Windows 2003. You could even use plain robocopy
provided that:
- Your new disk or disk array is partitioned and formatted.
- You have a suitable boot CD (e.g. a Bart CD) that gives you full access to
the file system.
- You can access the old and the new disk at the same time.
