The Backup program included is a vast improvement over that provided by
previous versions of Windows (if any).
Acronis TruImage Home is a very good alternative, as it creates
"images" of your entire hard disk, and you can customize the backups it
creates to suite your needs.
Restoring from backup is a real no brainer. And best of all, it allows
you to "mount" a previously created backup image as a virtual hard disk,
so that you can copy files from the backup to a different location
without having to first restore the entire hard disk.
