how bad is a Mcafee proxy failure?

I've gotten this message a few times before, telling me that I have this
failure and that supposedly they are working on solution, but I have had this
set-up for about six months with all of the regular updates, etc. and well
now six months later now that my computer is slowing down I think I want to
be concerned, but maybe not?

If your Security software (McAfee) is not working properly you have increased
security risks as well as the possibility that McAfee errors will cause your
computer to malfunction. Go to McAfee tech support or forums for help with
this. You may have to uninstall and reinstall McAfee. If you do have to
uninstall/reinstall McAfee, see details and links to McAfee Removal Tool,
etc. in this tutorial.
