I'm getting a scrollbar in the top portion of the Windows Update v5 page.
This is in the top iframe where the MS logo and the main menu buttons for
Home, Windows Family, etc are located.

This is really annoying, and MS should easily fix this by removing the
Scrollbar attribute for this frame, as a scrollbar in this topmost section is
unnecessary.

Hello,

Thank you for your comment. The reason the scroll bars are there is to
accomodate individuals with a need to have a larger font size on the screen
for readability. When using the larger font sizes in Internet Explorer, not
all information may be displayed and that is the purpose of the scroll bar.

So, I believe you would like the scroll bars to disappear when reducing the
font size in Internet Explorer. I will forward this suggestion to the
appropriate people.

Thank you,

Thanks for responding. Just to let you know, I haven't adjusted the font
size (it is set to medium). It is quite strange. It is possible I may have
adjusted the width of my scrollbar for customizing my desktop display
preferences. My display settings say that my scrollbar width is 17.

I have one other computer in my home with V5 and it isn't showing the
scrollbar anomoly. Also on the computer that is affected with it, V4 didn't
have this problem.

I have exactly the same problem and have done since WU was updated to v5. I
have the same issue on my work and my home computers. At work my screen
resolution is 1024x768 and the only way to remove the scrollbars is to go
down to a "Smaller" or "Smallest" font size. At home, the resolution is
higher, but I have the same issue - a "Medium" font size doesn't fit the
frame.

Seems to me that the frame is too small for the content all round.
