Bad Vista and other Windows Updates

This week windows vista updated itself with patches on my new dell laptop.
The updates seemed to disabled Microsoft word 2003's ability to recognize my
printer on this my dell inspiration 1720 laptop. Every other program could
recognize the printer except Microsoft word 2003 although they went at a
snails pace trying to recognize the printer. Believing it to be the sole
problem with the updates I uninstalled them using system restore and
magically Microsoft word worked perfectly with the printer again. Having had
windows updates disable my daughter’s laptop with xp professional three times
in the past 18 months and even more problems on a Toshiba laptop with error
messages about the active desktop and crashine every day in the past six
months I decided I have had more than I can take from your updates. I have
permanently disabled my laptop from searching for windows updates. It seems
as miscosoft has made things so complex it can't update anything withour
messing up how our computers work.

Sincerely

Frank

Hi there,

Why you are talking in the we form???

My computer works just fine with all the updates installed.

It seems to me your computer(s) is / are the one)s) with problems, this can
have many reasons, software conflicting/blocking, files needed that have
been deleted, spyware, virusses etc, etc.

Most users are having no problems as you can see to the little amount of
posts here, if not so than there would be hundred of thousand topics at the
moment

I think it might be wise to post your problems and get them resolved with
some help.

Good luck.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

From the topics displayed in ths forum it looks like my problems with updates
are no big deal to work around or inother words if the work fine if not
uninstall them and go on with life.
