This is the error message I keep getting. (I'm running XP with SP2 on a PC!)

Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems
only.
To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh
operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/.

MS is 'pushing' their customers towards purchasing Macs, Joyce. Whether
consciously or subconciously, that's what Vista appears to be doing. <w>

Since you have XP, please see:

Windows Update page says "Thank you for your interest in obtaining
updates from our site."

Thanks, MowGreen, for that solution; it worked to get me past the hijack. I
can now access the Update page but get error message 0x80244022 when I try to
scan for updates.

Try as I might, I cannot understand why MS's endorsement of an Apple product
should disrupt the [larger] universe of the Windows PC user. However, had
they chosen to endorse a Dell or an HP product, I'd still be irritated at the
hijack of the Update page.

Thanks, again, for your help!

0x80244022 means that the server is busy
Wait a few hours and retry it, Joyce.

BTW, the Apple reference was an attempt at a joke. Reckon
you didn't get that part

*snort*

In a different forum, I had cross posted this issue and another MVP lobbed a
"MS uses Apple" quip at me, too. Honestly, it looked to me that you people
had been nipping at the MS Kool-aid.

Anyhoo, sorry I missed the humor through all the frustration. I'm now
dealing with decoding MS error messages. Turns out you have a 10-character
alphanumeric that means "server busy, try again later." I lost half a day
with that one.

Maybe I should look into Macs.

No Kool-aid nipped here, Joyce. Remember, MVPs are
" Independent Experts. Real World Answers © " or so the T-shirt
MS gave me states <w>

BTW, my nephew, who started me off in the computing world way back
in the last century, has given up and bought a MacBook Pro.
That was shocking news to me. <eg>
