battery not recognized

I keep getting a "battery not recognized when I restart. I have a Dell
Inspiron 1501 laptop. checked the power adapter after reading all the
previous posts, it is good. battery indicator shows in tray, and shows
correctly. once in a while the computer just shuts down. even when the
battery is fully charged. I have tried all that I know to do. any ideas?

I just Googled "battery not recognized" in all groups handled by
Google.

It looks very much like you have a failing battery.

I have NO idea how to test that. Maybe you have a good local shop
(NOT Geeik Squad!) that can check it for you?

Sounds like the laptop needs to make a trip to the Dell repair center.
