Beep Occurring When Click

For some odd reason now when I single click an item in the start menu or
single click an item on the desktop my speaker produces a single beep.
I had event sounds for Menu Command and Menu Pop-up (this beep wasn't
assigned.)
but have removed the sound just for testing. I don't even have this sound
anywhere in my
sounds folder.

Any ideas??

James

I saw that some of my events had a exclamation icon next to
the event as opposed to a speaker icon. Not sure how it
happened, but I did try out some audio and video recording
shareware (which I know nothing about) and started clicking things.
Maybe that did it. All seem ok now.

Thanks,
James
