For whatever reason, my BenQ DW1640 was not detected during the installation
of Vista RC1. It did pick up my ancient Pioneer DVD-ROM. Anyone else have a
similar issue?

Thanks for responding. After I posted, I kept at it and finally fixed it
rather easily. I went to Start|Computer|right-clicked| went to properties in
the drop down menu|Device Manager| then to cd/dvd drives catagory. I just
right clicked and scanned for hardware changes. Then it picked up the
Benq1640 immediately and installed it. Works fine now, but it is rather odd I
had to go thru these steps.

I had similar problems with a Philips PBDV1640 which is a BenQ clone and the
cure was the same.

Ehh.. so why are you claiming your 1670 is a 1640? BTW my benq 1640 works
just fine. And btw, benq and liteon are not compatible, they both use
totally different chipsets.
