Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Easy Fix: Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Item No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix (MS06-015)"
to download a registry fix.

Note: You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program
in order to safely run the scripted fix.

Do the Kellys-korner fix...
and the often posted share-to-web reg file...
and the MS registry edit...
all do the same thing???

Yes. Keep in mind the "fixes" are intended only if your system has HP Share-to-Web software.

Thanks...

Why did you add the statement: "Keep in mind the 'fixes' are intended
only if your system has HP Share-to-Web software."

What would happen is someone ran one of these fixes who didn't have HP
software installed?... Would like to undstand this so I don't offer
dangerous advice to others. Thanx, again..

Richard

Hello Richard,

The registry tweak is only for the conditions cited in the MS article. So far, they have only listed HP Share-to-web software & a special note for Kerio firewall.

As fixes for other conditions are known, I would expect MS to update their articles.

Well, you may not even be aware that Share-To-Web is or *has been*
installed on your machine. So, if you're running into the problems,
the registry fixes (either the ZIP file or Kelly's VBS) are the
first option.

Since the problems may have other causes like Kerio's Firewall or
running outdated Nvidia graphic card drivers, there may be other
solutions, depending on the individual circumstances.

Nothing :-)
