best way to backup Win.email

Greetings,
What is the best way to back-up msg's. and contacts from WindowsMail (Vista)
to either a usb flash drive or to an external hd?
I found an explanation on a website and will post it here if asked, but it
seemed a little too involved.

::BACKING UP EMAIL::
- ::Open Windows Mail. :
- ::From the menu select *Tools > Options.*. :
- ::Click the *Advanced* tab.:

- ::Click the *Maintenance... *button. :


- ::Click the *Store Folder...* button.:
::-Result:- The Store Location dialog box appears listing you
personal message storage folder. This is the default location tha
Windows Mail currently stores your e-mail. :

- ::Select (highlight) and copy the folder location by pressing *Ctr
+ C* on your keyboard. :
- ::Click *Cancel* and *Close* until you have closed all open dialo
boxes. :
- ::Close Windows Mail.:

::Note: If you do not close Windows Mail before this step, you ma
receive error messages that certain files are still in use. *Make sur
Windows Mail is closed.* :
- ::From the Windows Vista desktop, click the *Start* button, an
type *Run *in the *Start Search* field.:
::*Run* will appear at the top of the search results. Click this..
:
- ::When the Run dialog box opens, paste in the file path you jus
copied by pressing *CTRL+V* on your keyboard, unless it has alread
defaulted in to the *Open:* field, and click *OK*. :
- ::From the *Organize* menu, select *Select All*.:
- ::From the *Organize *menu, select *Copy*, and then close th
window.:
- *::Right-click::*:: any empty space on your desktop, select *New*
and then *Folder*.:
- ::Type \"Mail Backup\" for the folder name, and then pres
*Enter*.:
- :ouble-click the *Mail Backup* folder to open it. :
- ::From the *Organize* menu, select *Paste*.:

Close the Mail Backup window
-Result:- The window closes and you are don
